Until quite recently, if you wanted your bumpy nose straightened, then surgical rhinoplasty was your only option. However, surgical treatment is an extremely invasive procedure, involving a lengthy and painful recovery time.
Many people are unaware that most nose bumps can easily be treated by adding dermal filler to the nose, and reshaping it, by slightly filling indentations and smoothing out any bumps and irregularities.
Non-surgical rhinoplasty is a procedure using dermal fillers to alter or reshape hooked or bumpy noses and improving the symmetry. This procedure is also known as a liquid nose job, and it’s become a popular treatment for people of a variety of age groups. It’s an excellent option for those who are unhappy with the shape of their noses but don’t necessarily want to have surgery.
The non-surgical nose job uses dermal filler via a needle injection, instead of a scalpel. The nose gets injected with a fine needle to soften, shape and straighten the nose, without resorting to invasive surgery.
Reasons for considering non-surgical nose job might include:
- Providing a rounder appearance to flat nasal bridges, and creating a subtle increase in height
- Giving the tip of the nose a lift
- Improving a slightly crooked or off-centre nose
- Creating a balanced appearance for crooked or hooked noses
- Balancing the size of the nose in comparison with other facial features
- Smoothing humps or bumps
- Refining an asymmetrical nose
- Achieving an improvement in other minor concerns with the nose
- Correcting a mild drooping of the nasal tip
After a consultation, the treatment begins with a local anaesthetic numbing cream being applied. The dermal filler is then expertly injected in small amounts into precise locations, to improve the shape of the nose. The filler doesn’t migrate or lump together in the tissues, and when it breaks down 8 to 10 months later, it does so symmetrically and evenly. The fillers used in non-surgical rhinoplasty are temporary and they naturally break down within the body, over time.
It’s a quick and simple procedure and you can return to work the next day. There’s no surgery, no hospital stay, no time off work and no long recovery period. However, the results of non-surgical nose jobs are less dramatic compared to surgical rhinoplasty and treatment won’t improve nostril retraction or nasal obstruction, and it can’t make large noses smaller.
The filler treatment should aim to create a natural looking reshaped nose and any later top-up treatments can always build on the effect in a soft and subtle way, so that you get the nose shape you want.
For the best results always make sure to find a cosmetic physician with a high level of ability, advanced knowledge in nasal anatomy and experience in non-surgical rhinoplasty.
